Located in the heart of The Liberties district, directly opposite the iconic St Patrick’s Cathedral, the new hotel brings CitizenM’s distinctive approach to hospitality to one of Dublin’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.

The 245-room hotel is housed in a striking Brutalist building designed by renowned Irish architect Sam Stephenson. Carefully preserved and reimagined by CitizenM’s creative team, the property blends architectural heritage with contemporary design, resulting in a dynamic, art-filled environment where comfort and creativity intersect.

CitizenM’s signature interiors feature modern Vitra furniture, bold colour palettes, and inviting public spaces designed to inspire work, relaxation, and social connection. The Living Room – open to both guests and locals – offers an informal, stylish space for meetings, creativity, or quiet reflection.

The compact rooms are well specified with everything the modern traveller requires

In keeping with CitizenM’s global focus on art, the Dublin hotel features an exclusive collaboration with the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). Each guestroom showcases bespoke diptychs by one of five Irish contemporary artists, curated by Mary Cremin, Head of Programming at IMMA. These unique works – ranging from digital collages to cyanotype portraits – celebrate Ireland’s rich creative landscape.

Public art plays a key role as well: the hotel’s façade is adorned with a bronze-cast lyric by Dublin rapper Malaki while the rear features a vibrant mural by artist Claire Prouvost, painted directly onto the preserved original concrete – a bold tribute to the city’s energy and culture.

CitizenM Dublin offers 24/7 dining at canteenM, a rooftop terrace, and four societyM meeting rooms designed for both business and creative collaboration.

The hotel’s central location places guests within walking distance of Dublin’s cultural landmarks, independent galleries, top dining, and shopping districts including Grafton Street, Temple Bar, and the Creative Quarter.

A room-by-room art experience, curated with IMMA

As with every citizenM property, art plays a central role in the guest experience - and in Dublin, the brand has partnered with the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) to deliver something truly special. Curated by Mary Cremin, IMMA’s Head of Programming, each guest room features a diptych-style artwork from one of five Irish artists, creating a deeply personal and locally rooted stay.

  • Alan Phelan’s photographic and stitched-ribbon works reinterpret the RGB colour process invented by Irish physicist John Joly, which he has revived after being unused for over a century.
  • Breda Lynch’s Blue Dyke portraits, made using cyanotype techniques, explore identity, memory and resilience with striking emotional depth.
  • Brian Teeling presents symbolic images of peace lilies, referencing Irish nationalism and queer identity, rendered with quiet power and modern relevance.
  • Niamh McCann’s layered collages weave together architecture, politics and utopian ideals, combining elements from Tallinn and Bauhaus blueprints with feminist and cultural symbols.
  • Kian Benson Bailes uses digital collaging to transform his rural surroundings into textured dreamscapes, merging past and present in reflective detail.

Each work was created in response to citizenM’s creative brief: art that is playful, colourful, and unmistakably Irish
