This year, PJ Hegarty celebrates a century of shaping skylines, creating spaces, and building a brighter future. Established in 1925, the business has grown to become one of Ireland’s most progressive building companies, delivering exceptional projects across Ireland and the UK from its offices in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and London.

PJ Hegarty’s purpose has been unwavering: to build safe, sustainable, and innovative structures that leave a positive impact. Its success has changed the skylines with world-class structures but, just as crucially, it has also built trust, communities, and a legacy of excellence.

Over 100 years in business, PJ Hegarty has built up significant resources and expertise and has an annual turnover of over €500 million, with 450+ people directly employed. Its primary activity is undertaking large, complex projects in commercial, retail, tourism, pharmaceutical, high-tech, institutional buildings, refurbishment and civil engineering works.

In celebration of its centenary, PJ Hegarty’s office headquarters were completely transformed, in collaboration with PAC Studio and CORA Engineers.

A glu-laminated timber and glass structure was inserted into the existing building to form a new entrance and reception space for visitors, providing a fantastic sense of light and space.

The project also involved upgrades to the thermal efficiency of the facades and landscaping of the courtyard space for the team – when the sun is shining, the spaces really come alive.

Multi-generation heritage business, David Crowley Furniture, also collaborated on the project, bringing its signature blend of tradition and innovation. Based in County Waterford, the business creates beautiful furniture for prestigious clients all over the world, using only the finest quality materials and techniques.

As PJ Hegarty honours its past, the business is looking toward the future — innovating, growing, and continuing to safely meet the needs of its clients and partners. While reflecting on the many transformations of the past century, the company looks to a future that embraces diversity, champions sustainability, and places innovation at its core.
