Obituary – Ollie Farrell
On Saturday, 30th August, Ollie Farrell, co-founder of Farrell Brothers (Ardee) Ltd, died peacefully at the age of 89.
Ollie was deeply respected in both business and personal circles, known for his honesty, fairness, and warm approach - values that helped shape the company and earned admiration across the industry and local community.
In 1961, Ollie and his brother Paddy founded Farrell Brothers. Through passion, determination and the steadfast support of his beloved wife Irene, Ollie laid the foundations of a now thriving third-generation business.
His love for manufacturing was evident daily. Always hands-on, Ollie could be found inspecting jobs, assisting at machines, or just having a chat with employees - he was a presence in every area of the business.
Time for cake …
Beyond the factory, Ollie cherished time with others. Whether enjoying meals with friends, family gatherings, or welcoming visitors to the Dundalk Road home, he was always great company to be in.
A passionate sailor, Ollie had many adventures and stories to share, many of which will live on through those who knew and loved him.
Ollie will be sorely missed, but the legacy he leaves behind will live forever.
