Opened in April, the property becomes the sixth in the Marine & Lawn portfolio and the brand’s second hotel in Northern Ireland. Located just steps from the coast, the opening was perfectly timed as it was Portush’s turn in the global spotlight as host of the 153rd Open Championship recently. The hotel has been thoughtfully restored following its acquisition in 2022, with major renovations to guest rooms, public areas, and dining spaces.

Blending Marine & Lawn’s signature timeless style with a deep appreciation for local culture, Portrush Adelphi offers a fresh chapter for a beloved landmark. Designed by owner, AJ Capital Partners’ in-house team, the hotel draws inspiration from County Antrim’s rich heritage and dramatic natural beauty. Guests will enjoy Individually designed rooms, atmospheric gathering spaces, and the debut of The Red Sail Room, a new restaurant concept rooted in local flavour and elevated hospitality.

“We are delighted to expand Marine & Lawn’s footprint in Northern Ireland with the opening of Portrush Adelphi,” says Phillip Allen, President, Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts. “True to the brand’s mission, the town of Portrush is an iconic golf destination, making it a natural fit for our portfolio. Portrush is experiencing strong tailwinds with rising tourism, increased investment, and the recent Open Championship. We’re proud to bring our distinct approach to hospitality to such a dynamic destination.”

For the hotel’s interiors, AJ Capital Partners’ in-house design team drew on Portrush’s golfing history and the showstopping scenery of Country Antrim.

Starting in the lobby, guests are greeted by rich mahogany wooden herringbone floors, majestic columns, overflowing greenery, and an open fireplace for the cold winter months.

The hotel has 34 thoughtfully designed rooms featuring a confident and rich palette of jewel tones, bespoke furnishings, and thoughtful amenities.

The Red Sail Room is a brand-new, high-end Italian dining experience that blends authentic traditions with contemporary elegance, attracting hotel guests and locals alike.

The warm and modern dining room is adorned with oak leaf wallpaper and whitewashed wooden panelling. Oil paintings throughout the restaurant depict scenes of the local sea and coastline, while deep maroon velvet banquettes add a touch of elegance. The restaurant puts an emphasis on Italian dishes complemented by locally sourced ingredients. An extensive list of Italian and complex world wines has been carefully curated to complement the menu.

Tartan upholstery and cable knit throws add warm texture to the moody deep blue and greens, inspired by the lush surroundings. The land and sea colour scheme continues into the bathrooms, with bespoke wallpaper and vibrant green tiles reflecting Ireland’s penchant from verdant colourways.

Expanding on Marine & Lawn’s celebration of old-school luxury and craftsmanship, en-suite bathrooms are stocked with a range of products from Floris, the world’s oldest independent family perfumer.

Situated on Northern Ireland’s striking coastline – one hour from both Belfast and Derry-Londonderry – Portrush is a picturesque base to explore the local area’s various landmarks and attractions, including the breathtaking Giant’s Causeway; the dramatic ruins of Dunluce Castle; and Bushmills Distillery, the world’s oldest licensed distillery.

The town itself boasts three golden sand beaches and is naturally popular with the golfing fraternity – the Royal Portrush Golf Club is ranked the eighth-best golf course in the world and the classic links course provides sweeping views over the Causeway Coast’s sand dunes and dramatic white cliffs.

Portrush Adelphi is the sixth property in the Marine & Lawn collection and the second property in Northern Ireland, joining Slieve Donard in Newcastle, County Down, NI; Rusacks St Andrews in St Andrews; Marine North Berwick in North Berwick; Marine Troon in Troon; and Dornoch Station Hotel in Dornoch; all in Scotland.
