The Irish Wood & Interiors Network (IWIN) will lead a delegation of Irish manufacturers to the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in Atlanta, Georgia, one of the largest and most influential woodworking and interiors trade exhibitions in North America. Held from 25–28 August, the event attracts more than 20,000 industry professionals and provides an unrivalled opportunity for manufacturers, suppliers, designers and distributors to connect with the North American market.

Travelling as part of the IWIN delegation this year are OS Doors, Merenda, The Galtee Group and Western Postform, representing some of the very best of Irish manufacturing capability. Alongside these companies, IWIN will also unveil Kildara – a new collective Irish brand developed to showcase premium Irish interiors, materials and craftsmanship to international markets.

The visit forms part of IWIN's long-term strategy to help Irish manufacturers explore and develop opportunities in the United States and Canada. Rather than viewing the exhibition as a once-off sales event, the objective is to strengthen relationships with existing contacts, establish new partnerships and gain a deeper understanding of the market to create sustainable export opportunities for Irish businesses.

Encouragingly, this is not an untapped market for Ireland. Companies such as OS Doors have already secured significant business in the United States with their range of premium kitchen door fronts, demonstrating that Irish manufacturers can compete successfully when they offer the right combination of quality, service and innovation. Their success provides confidence that there is genuine demand for Irish-made products and that other manufacturers can follow a similar path.

From IWIN's previous trade missions to North America, one message has become increasingly clear: Irish manufacturers occupy a strong position within the mid-to-upper end of the market. While competing purely on price against mass-produced imports is rarely realistic, Ireland offers something different: exceptional manufacturing standards, flexibility, shorter production runs, design capability and an attention to detail that is highly valued by architects, designers, kitchen studios and specialist distributors.

Of course, exporting to North America is not without its challenges. Logistics, shipping, distribution and installation all require careful planning and trusted partners. However, these challenges are far from insurmountable. The United States has well-established networks of distributors, installers, logistics providers and manufacturers' representatives, creating multiple routes to market for Irish businesses. With the right research, local partnerships and a commitment to building long-term relationships, viable commercial models can be developed that make exporting both practical and profitable.

Supporting the delegation on the ground will be David Smith of TDSG Group and Freya Hannah of Cieblink, who will assist in arranging introductions to carefully selected distributors, manufacturers, specifiers and commercial contacts. Their local knowledge and established networks will help ensure that participating companies maximise the value of their visit through meaningful business meetings rather than relying solely on exhibition footfall.

The exhibition will also mark the first international showcase of Kildara, a new initiative created by IWIN to present a distinctive Irish design language to global markets. Inspired by Ireland's heritage, landscape, natural materials and contemporary manufacturing capability, Kildara seeks to create a recognisable identity that differentiates Irish interiors from the increasingly uniform products seen across global markets. By combining premium Irish materials with modern design and advanced manufacturing, the brand aims to position Ireland as a source of authentic, high-quality interior products rather than simply another manufacturing location.

Ultimately, IWF Atlanta is about far more than exhibiting products. It is about building relationships, understanding market needs and demonstrating that Ireland has the capability, creativity and manufacturing excellence to compete internationally. As IWIN continues to support companies on their export journey, trade missions such as this provide an invaluable platform to showcase what Irish manufacturers have to offer and reinforce a simple message to the North American market: Ireland is open for business.
