N.A.A. introduces pocket door systems to the Irish market

As kitchen and furniture design continues to prioritise clean lines and flexible living spaces, pocket door systems are becoming an increasingly important feature in contemporary interiors. N.A.A. Ltd is introducing this technology to the Irish market with a new Salice Gravity pocket door system, designed to combine refined engineering with practical functionality.

The system allows cabinet doors to glide forward before disappearing fully into concealed side compartments, leaving the cabinet opening completely unobstructed. This enables spaces to transition easily between open access and a clean, minimal appearance, an approach increasingly used in kitchen larder units, walk-in wardrobes, concealed workstations and integrated storage.

“Designers and manufacturers are increasingly looking for solutions that allow spaces to adapt,” says Luke Hickey, managing director of N.A.A. “Pocket doors provide the ability to open up cabinetry completely when needed while maintaining a very clean architectural finish when closed.”

A key feature of the Gravity system is its gravity-assisted mechanical movement. Unlike many traditional pocket door mechanisms that rely on cables or spring-loaded components, the system uses gravity to guide the movement of the doors. This approach creates a smooth, controlled sliding action while maintaining a mechanically simple structure designed for reliability and long-term durability.

For furniture manufacturers and installers, the design offers practical advantages in both installation speed and everyday performance. Doors glide open with a balanced movement and return quietly into their concealed pockets with integrated soft close, creating a refined user experience suitable for high-use cabinetry.

“What stands out about the system is the standard of the engineering,” Hickey adds. “It’s a mechanically straightforward solution that delivers a very smooth and controlled movement, which is exactly what manufacturers and designers are looking for.”

The pocket door systems will be demonstrated at N.A.A.’s fifth annual open day on Friday 12th June at the company’s Ballymount headquarters, where visitors will be able to see the systems in operation alongside displays from a number of the company’s key supplier partners, including Hettich, H.B. Fuller and Liebherr.
